Reading Intervention in the Early Years

Improving literacy outcomes for all students is a priority at our school. Our Early Years Reading Intervention Program provides timely proactive intervention focussing on improving the reading skills of students in year 1 and year 2. Students requiring reading intervention are identified by their classroom teacher and receive small group teaching sessions from our Reading Intervention Teacher.

Quicksmart Numeracy Intervention

At Coorara we offer the Quicksmart  Maths Intervention Program. Quicksmart is a Mathematics program aimed at supporting middle primary students who need additional support to learn basic mathematical operations.                        

PSW

We are very fortunate to have a PSW (Pastoral Support Worker) supporting the Coorara Community- students, parents, families and staff.  Janette Wheeler works at Coorara on Tuesday and Thursday.  Janette's role is varied and includes working alongside teachers in classrooms, supporting excursions, running lunchtime activities and coordinating the community garden. Janette's room is located in the Green Unit.
